This one was nothing short of memorable. I”m talking clouds to sunshine to hail to rain to sunshine to clouds again kind of memorable. That’s right, hail. It was a lovely October morning and I was walking around Michigan State Universities’ beautiful campus, coffee in hand, scouting some locations for portraits with Alex and Lauren later that day. The sun was shining, even if it was pretty frigid, and all was well with the world. A few hours later we were back on campus, a little earlier than planned due to a quick change in the weather and sudden impending rain. Armed with umbrellas we sheltered ourself in a little grove of trees, got a few quick pictures in, and then the sound of pouring rain hit the leaves above us. In a fraction of a second we all realized at the same time that it wasn’t rain, it was huge chunks of hail. And we took off running to the bus where Alex kept us entertained with a killer playlist and a few lip sync’s of his own. The hail quickly turned to rain and we found some nice overhangs to shelter us for more photos. I love Michigan for that, always keeping us on our toes, always dishing out the unexpected. If the hail wasn’t my favorite part of the day it might have been the post ceremony beer pong at Lauren’s old college house where Alex and Lauren met. Or.. maybe.. when they entered their reception to the Kanye song “Black Skinhead”. Yeah, I think that might have been my favorite part.
Thanks to my girl, Mae, for being a babe and shooting at my side/ dancing to Miley Cyrus with me at the reception.
